PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Several roads in downtown St. Petersburg will be impacted by two major events this weekend.
CraftArt 2009 is celebrating its second year outside of The Florida Craftsmen, 501 Central Ave, Saturday and Sunday.
And almost 5,000 runners from across the country will take to the streets for the inaugural running of the Women's Half Marathon and 5K, sponsored by Women's Running Magazine on Sunday.
The Women's Half Marathon/5K will affect traffic around Bayshore Drive S.E., 34th Ave. N, and around Tropicana Field at First Ave. S. and 10th St. S., from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The 5K will follow a shortened course using Beach Dr. N.E., First Ave. S, loop around Mirror Lake via Sixth St. S, then use First Ave. S to end at the finish line.
Traffic should flow normally by early afternoon Sunday. Bayshore Drive SE will remain closed from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
All vehicles, including residential permit holders, parked on the street should be removed from the marathon route by 5 a.m. Sunday to avoid being towed for the safety of the runners and other motorists.
