PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Pinellas County sheriff's deputies assisted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in looking for a monkey that was spotted in Oldsmar.

According to the sheriff's office, the monkey weighs about 30 pounds and was seen Sunday afternoon near the Sable Palms Apartments at 1355 Bay Harbor Drive.

The monkey may be a macaque.

Deputies say the monkey can be aggressive and citizens should not try to capture it if they see it.

However, if someone does see it, they are urged to report it to local law enforcement of the FWC.
