Arrest made in crash that injured UT student, friend
TAMPA (Bay News 9) -- Tampa Police Department detectives have made an arrest in the hit-and-run crash that critically injured a University of Tampa student and his friend Saturday.
Police say 27-year-old Andre Trujillo has been arrested and is being taken to police headquarters.
According to reports, 20-year-old Erik V. Nicoletti, a junior at UT, was walking with 19-year-old Cree Alisha Riley on a sidewalk near the university when they were hit.
The manager of a nearby gas station said the driver initially stopped before speeding off.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Nicoletti has been declared brain dead but is still on life support. And Riley is still in critical condition.
