POLK COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Six of the eight sexual predators told to leave an Auburndale mobile home park where they were living in tents have been arrested.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said the men had to leave the mobile home park or be arrested because they were living too close to a school bus stop.
The men had until Wednesday to relocate.
The six men were arrested Tuesday during the investigation of a trespassing complaint in an orange grove. Deputies found tents set up.
"And a guy shows up, and they said, 'what are you doing here.' And he said, 'well I'm a predator and I have to be 2,500 feet away from a bus stop.' And he said, 'well, you can't live in this orange grove; you're under arrest for trespassing. What about the rest of these tents?'" said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "And he said, 'well, they're on the way.'"
The six men arrested are charged with probation violation, trespassing and a felony charge of failing to notify law enforcement of their location.
And the sheriff says he'll arrest the remaining two sexual predators Wednesday if he finds out they haven't moved from that Auburndale mobile home park.
