HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A man was arrested after deputies said he kidnapped his wife, then tried to set her on fire.
According to reports, just after 11 p.m. Monday, 26-year-old Walter Dunn III punched in the door of 27-year-old Alison Aquino-Sanchez's home, then grabbed her by the hair and dragged her from the home.
Dunn then forced Aquino-Sanchez, with whom he has two children, into a black Ford Explorer, then drove her to his home in the 7400 block of Oak Vista Circle in Tampa, deputies said.
Once they were at Dunn's home, deputies said Dunn poured gasoline on her, then tried to set her on fire using a lighter. The lighter failed to work, which was when Dunn began beating Aquino-Sanchez, deputies said.
He was trying to cut her fingers with a pair of garden shears when deputies arrived at his house, burst into the garage and ordered Dunn to the ground, the report said.
Aquino-Sanches was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
Dunn was arrested and taken to Orient Road Jail. He has been charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and burglary with battery. No bond has been set for his release.
