Vehicle hits child near Auburndale

POLK COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A vehicle hit a child near New Life Baptist Church in an unincorporated part of Polk County near Auburndale Monday evening.

The car hit 11-year-old Harley Mayville just before 6 p.m. at Lake Mattie Road and Flint Drive.

The boy's injuries were described as serious, but he is expected to be okay.
