Locals will get a chance to ask the finalists questions Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The candidates, Gene Bernal, Tony Holloway, John Jackson and Thomas Lawrence will receive questions at a forum Tuesday at the Harborview Center.
The candidates will be in separate rooms, hosting 30-minute question and answer sessions with the public, who will then be asked to write down their thoughts.
The job finalists also will talk to city council members and the Clearwater city manager.
Bernal is a 49-year-old deputy chief from Orlando. Holloway, 47, became Clearwater's first black police captain, then left in 2007 to become police chief in Somerville, Mass.
Jackson, 44, is the police chief in a small Colorado town and Lawrence, 50, is a deputy chief in Dallas.
Clearwater city leaders hope to have a new chief by February, when longtime chief Sid Klein is retiring.
