Manatee's new baseball team: the Bradenton Marauders

MANATEE COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Bradenton's new Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate has a name - the Marauders.

The Pittsburgh Pirates' new Class A Advanced Florida State League affiliate in Bradenton revealed its name and logo on Tuesday.

The announcement was made at the Kiwanis Club of Bradenton. Pirates players and executives were in attendance.

The Marauders, who are replacing Lynchburg of the Carolina League as the Pirates' advanced Class A team, open play on April 8, 2010.

The team will play at McKechnie Field.
