HERNANDO COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- A group of local artists is trying to change the art scene in Hernando County.
According to Bay News 9's partner newspaper, the St. Petersburg Times, a new organization is being run out of a home on West Jefferson Street in Brooksville.
Hernando POP (People of Passion) has a mission to promote, preserve, and encourage the cultural arts.
Artist Lynne Simone says that it's a seed for something bigger.
"People really don't realize how many creative people we have in the area," said Simone. "Many talented artists."
Gus Guadagnino is POP's founder, and says that Hernando County has needed an organization like his for a long time.
"My thing in life is that I want to make it a little better than how I found it," said Guadagnino.
Hernando POP plans to begin offering art classes beginning in January, and can be contacted by calling 352-345-4462.
