HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers surprised 30 families for the holidays.
Tuesday, the families got Hess and Publix gift cards, toys, children's bicycles and helmets, portable DVD players, Buccaneers game tickets, a shopping spree and more during the team's third-annual "Day of Giving."
"Us players are excited because a lot of us were in situations like this," said Bucs FB Chris Pressley. "Speaking for myself, I was in a situation where my mom didn't have much. The community would always do stuff like this for us. The fact that I'm on the giving end of it now means a lot to me. It's a blessing."
The families, which were selected by local nonprofit agencies, had arrived at One Buccaneer Place under the guise that they were receiving a tour of the team's headquarters.
