PASCO COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Residents of a 10-block area of Port Richey surrounding U.S. Highway 19 and Ranch Road are being offered evacuations due to street flooding.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter at St. Marks Presbyterian Church, 7922 State Road 52 in Hudson.
The flooding began before 7 a.m. Wednesday due to the heavy rains that are moving across the area.
The Pasco Emergency Management team set up a command center in the area to monitor the flooding. Officials said 3 to 5 inches of rain fell on the area today.
Also, a flood advisory was issued for Hillsborough and Pinellas counties while a flood watch continues for Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Polk and Manatee counties.
The flood watch is in effect until 10 p.m.
The watch means conditions are possible for street and river flooding.
