Road closures for Sunday's Morton Plant Mease Triathlon

PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- On Sunday, nearly 1,000 athletes will compete in the Fourth Annual Morton Plant Mease Triathlon.

The competition starts in Sand Key Park at 6:50 a.m. The race course runs through Clearwater and Belleair. As a result, residents in the area should be aware of possible travel delays during the race.

The following locations will be impacted by the race between the hours of 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.:

Sand Key Park
- Sand Key Park
- Sand Key Bridge
- S. Gulfview Blvd.
- Hamden Dr.
- Coronado Dr.
- Memorial Causeway Bridge
- Gulf Blvd.

City of Clearwater
- Palm Ave.
- Turner Street
- Bay Ave.
- Druid Rd. W.
- Druid Rd. S.
- Belleview Blvd.
- Indian Rocks Rd.

City of Belleair
- West Bay Dr.
- Belleair Causeway Bridge

Officers will be available to direct traffic during the event. However, drivers are advised to avoid the area if at all possible.
