PINELLAS COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- For those looking at a tight budget, shopping for clothes may be out of the question.
So to save on funds and spice up the wardrobe, some in the Bay area are participating in a clothing swap at the Gulfport Goes Green monthly event.
The swap got started with donated clothes, shoes and accessories from local shops. But the rest is up to people, such as Tom Lentz who raided his own closet.
"I got a gray T-shirt and brought back about eight long sleeve shirts, so it's a good trade," Lentz said.
The swap is hosted by local-shops-1.com, a web site that links mom and pop shops with consumers.
Anything that's left over from the swaps goes to Operation H.U.G.S.
The clothing swap is expected to be a part of the Gulfport Goes Green events that happens every fourth Saturday of every month in downtown Gulfport.
