BAY NEWS 9 -- Judging by the amount of personal fireworks shot off every year in the Bay area, residents wouldn't know that the use of most of those consumer fireworks is illegal in Florida.
It is.
By Florida law, the only devices that are legal for consumers to use are those that do not contain explosives, do not detonate or explode and cannot propel themselves through the air.
Sparklers are legal, but they can't contain more than 100 grams of the chemical compound that produces sparks.
The law prohibits the personal use of fireworks containing explosive or flammable compounds. That includes, though is not necessarily limited to, these items:
