The Sunshine Skyway Bridge was closed for two hours overnight.
MANATEE COUNTY (Bay News 9) -- Authorities are searching for someone who sparked a bomb threat last night on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

The bridge was shut down for two hours late Thursday as officials investigated the threat.

Authorities from the Manatee and Pinellas county sheriff's offices, St. Petersburg Police Department and Florida Highway Patrol all assisted in the emergency, which shut down the bridge from 10 p.m. to a little before 1 a.m.Friday.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the situation began when someone called the agency saying they had a conversation with someone on a C.B. Radio who said they were going to set off explosives on the bridge at 11:15 p.m.

Authorities responded to the bridge, shut it down and conducted a search.

The Coast Guard assisted in examining the bridge. Officials have not gone into detail about the search or the phone call they received.

When nothing was found, the bridge was reopened.

Officials said they are still investigating the incident.
