PINELLAS PARK - Florida Marlin Chris Coghlan paid a visit to the Bright House Sports Network studios Tuesday, a day after he won the 2009 National League Rookie of the Year award.
Coghlan played baseball for East Lake high school in Pinellas county, before being drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Instead, he opted to go to college at Mississippi, and then was drafted by the Marlins in 2006.
He was called up to the big leagues in June 2009, and he proceeded to lead Major League Baseball in batting average (.372) and hits (113) after the All-Star break.
