All major military bases in Florida, including MacDill Air Force Base will remain open.
In the early 90s, the BRAC Commission called MacDill's name two times as a base that should be considered for closure.
The two installations on the Pentagon list for proposed closure include the Naval Reserve Center in St. Petersburg that employs 12 people and the Defense Finance and Accounting Services in Orlando, employing 209 people.
The listed military bases will have an opportunity to plead their cases before various commission hearings.
Members of the commission will also visit the bases before the final recommendations are made on September 8.
