In a match between two teams who have never held the state title, the Carrollwood Day Patriots (25-2) swept the Benjamin Buccaneers (16-4) for the Class 4A State Championship.

Patriots electric senior Gabriela Quarles led the charge with 17 kills and 11 digs with her father and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Director of Football Operations Shelton in attendance. Ally-Reese Williams finished with 16 kills and 5 aces.

Playing without senior Emma Lange who was a late subtraction from the lineup, the Buccaneers fell in three sets 25-22, 25-19, 25-20. Benjamin head coach Alex Clarke told Spectrum Sports the morning of the match that the Dickinson College commit would be inactive.

Carrollwood Day swept every opponent in the 2017 tournament and is now 9-3 all-time in the playoffs. Benjamin is now 21-27 all-time in the playoffs.
