A 36-year-old Largo woman shot a teenager Monday evening after the teen and another youth tried to carjack her and her son, according to Clearwater police.

According to police, the shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. at the Bank of America location on the corner of Belcher Road and Belleair Road.

Police said Lasupta Singletary, 18, and a 17-year-old arranged to meet with Louise Ornduff, 36, of Largo and her son, Kalaeb, about the sale of a vehicle.

"They were armed and demanded the keys to the Hyundai Veloster that Kalaeb Ornduff had been driving," police said in a news release. As the two left the scene in the Veloster, Louise Ornduff fired a shot and struck Singletary.

The 17-year-old drove the car to Mease Countryside Hospital, where Singletary died. The teen was charged with second-degree felony murder and armed robbery.

The Clearwater Police Department and Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney's Office will review the case for any possible charges against Ornduff.

Clearwater Police spokesperson Rob Shaw added the people did know each other and the meeting was not random.
