A 59-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after officials said he shot two men and hit their mother with a shovel.
William Gonsisko, 59, is accused of shooting Jeremiah Ward, 33, and Joseph Ward, 37, Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at their home at 7089 Gilbert Terrace.
Deputies said Jeremiah and Joseph, and their mother Melinda Ward, 61, arrived at their home and were met in the front yard by Gonsisko, who they did not recognize. Melinda said Gonsisko was carrying her birdcage with her bird inside and a clear bottle of liquid.
When the two sons got out of the car to confront Gonsisko, officials said a fight ensued and both men were shot. Jeremiah was shot twice in the head and Joseph was shot in the arm. Gonsisko then hit Melinda with the shovel, officials said.
As the victims fled the scene Melinda said she could smell gasoline and saw Gonsisko douse items with the liquid.
While deputies were assisting the victims, the sheriff’s office received a call about a mobile home on fire at the location where the victims were shot.
Deputies and Fire Rescue responded and found the mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Deputies were able to gather information that led them to a neighbor, William Gonsisko, as a possible suspect. At the suspect’s home, deputies found several items that linked him to the scene of the shooting.
Fire Rescue crews also found a shovel and a pistol at the scene of the shooting after they put out the fire.
Gonsisko was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder. Deputies said possible arson and armed robbery charges are pending.
