The first cold front of the season moved through Tampa Bay on Tuesday. While it brought us slightly cooler temperatures and some lower humidity, it was not a significant temperature drop. In fact, our low temperatures in the 60s Wednesday and Thursday mornings were average for this time of year. The average high is in the mid 80s.

While the nights and mornings are more comfortable, the afternoons will be warm today and through the weekend with high temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. This is close to record highs in some spots. We tied a record high of 89 degrees in Tampa on Thursday.

The cold front this week made it feel a little more pleasant the past couple of days, but a stronger cold front is expected next week.

While there are minor differences with the computer models on the timing of the front, right now it looks like the cold front will move through our area on Tuesday with showers and thunderstorms.

The front will usher in much cooler and drier air beginning Wednesday. In fact, with low temperatures forecast to be in the 60s Wednesday morning and in the 50s Thursday morning, it may be time to dig deep into the back of your closet to find a sweater or jacket for next week! Or, you might want to plan some shopping over the weekend for new Fall clothes.

Looking back at last year, our first cool down happened on October 10th.

We will continue to fine-tune the forecast for next week so be sure to check back with us for updates with our Weather on the Nines. You can also check our 7 day forecast HERE
