The incident occurred about 9:38 p.m. at the Spring Haven Apartments, north of County Line Road.

The victim, a woman, was taken by medical helicopter to a trauma center for treatment. Nienhuis said the woman was shot in the face.

Her name hasn't been released.

The shooter is described as a black teenage male, who was wearing black basketball shorts and white or grey sneakers. He was not wearing a shirt and was carrying a small sling bag.

The shooter was last seen running east, across Mariner Boulevard, toward the Wellington community. Anyone with information about him is asked to call the Sheriff's Office.
