The U.S. Postal Service made the holidays brighter for families by making special Christmas deliveries.

  • Postal workers expected to deliver 850 million holiday packages
  • Sunday delivery operations added to help

Postman Mark Lash was part of that team who delivered packages around Tampa Monday.

He traveled to about a dozen homes to give unexpected presents to families.

Lash said the reaction was very rewarding.

"Just seeing people's faces and the joy of seeing another gift coming in, it was really neat," said Lash.

This year, the U.S. Post Office has seen an increase in holiday packages.

Postal workers were expected to deliver about 850 million packages. That a 10 percent increase from last year.

The Post Office has expanded its Sunday delivery operations to handle the high number of pieces this holiday season.

It was expected to deliver more than six million packages each Sunday this month of December.
