It was along U.S. Highway 19 in Hudson, in a building where that famous colonel once served his famous chicken that we came upon the Repeat Boutique, a.k.a. The R.O.P.E Center Thrift Store.

It’s been opened for about a year now.

  • R.O.P.E stands for resource, outreach, prayer, empowerment
  • Thrift store is run by team of volunteers

Inside, a shop jam packed with all sorts of items at bargain prices looking for a new home.

And the money made has a special destination. It’s part of the ministry of Sue and Jim Campbell.

“We opened this to support the homeless shelter we founded.  It’s called the R.O.P.E.,” Sue Campbell said.  “We started out with a duplex about 15 to 20 beds in it nine years ago.”

The thrift store has no paid employees.  Instead, it’s run by a team of volunteers.

The Campbells call them their heroes.

Jim Campbell explained why it’s called R.O.P.E.

“Resource, outreach, prayer, and empowerment,” he said.

After the R.O.P.E. Center came the resource center where every day is a busy day.

“We provide people with hot food three days a week, food stamps, counseling, phones, mail boxes, clothes,” Sue Campbell said.

There is also a three bedroom home in Hudson.

And now, just opened this past October, the new R.O.P.E. Center; a 40 bed facility.

Working tirelessly to provide shelter and assistance, the Campbells work with many churches of various denominations.

“Whoever needs help, that’s our goal. How to meet every need that comes before us,” Jim Campbell said.

A place of goodwill and faith.

And a simple philosophy:  “We are all in the same boat. We all have the same responsibilities and we should never look at somebody else less than we are,” Jim Campbell said.
