The Wallendas, who are based in Sarasota, will perform as part of the Big Apple Circus, which went bankrupt last year.

Nik Wallenda made the announcement Tuesday morning on The TODAY Show that the family will star in the circus during a 40-week cross country tour starting in October.

Multiple members of the family's acrobatic team were injured in February during a mishap while attempting an eight-person pyramid about 25 feet in the air while prepping for Circus Sarasota. Nik said they are still recovering.

Nik Wallenda, perhaps the most well known of the high-wire performers, walked on the 400-foot-tall Orlando Eye in 2015.

The Big Apple Circus was purchased last month by a Sarasota investment firm.

No schedule has been released as of yet for the circus' tour.
