D23 Expo -- Disney's ultimate fan event -- will be here before you know it.

  • D23 Expo will be held July 14-16 in Calif.
  • Posters showcase a number of characters

To build anticipation, Disney has released several posters that attendees will see at this year's convention.

The posters showcase characters from The Walt Disney Company’s long list of franchises: Iron Man (Marvel), Buzz Lightyear (Pixar), and BB-8 (Star Wars). And, of course, Mickey Mouse is prominently featured on two.

The last D23 Expo took place in 2015 and featured a few big announcements.

During the event, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed the company’s plans to build a Star Wars themed land at Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California.

Construction for both is currently underway with the lands scheduled to open in 2019.

Attendees were also treated to details about the new Star Wars experiences set for the parks, including Star Wars Launch Bay.

The 11-acre Toy Story expansion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was also announced.

Among the other announcements were a closer look at Pandora, the Avatar-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Rivers of Light, a nighttime show featuring music and floating lanterns; Soarin’ Around the World, a revamped version of the popular Soarin' attraction; Frozen Ever After, the boat ride in Epcot’s Norway pavilion; and a Shanghai Disneyland update.

Who knows what Disney will have in store fans this year.

D23 Expo will be held July 14 to July 16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
