Tampa Bay’s BJ Hall is back home.

After years of pro ball as a quarterback with the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League including twice with the Tampa Bay Storm, the 32-year-old Hall now focuses on a different kind of touchdown.

In 2014 he began Team Florida.

“It’s an off season football program for high school football players generated to help them get educated to understand what it’s going to be like at the next level in college and also in life,” Hall said.

Teaching them life skills; to help provide that platform for the chance to gain exposure to what awaits.

He began all it with his wife, Ashley, and the other great loves of his life, their daughters.

“She’s been a tremendous help.  My backbone.  My other half in this whole ordeal because I wouldn’t be able to do it without her,” Hall said.

Along with coaching, mentoring and tutoring all students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade average.

Visits to colleges and their coaches totaled 16 different schools last year including stops at Florida schools, Ohio State, the University of Michigan, and U. of Buffalo.

Offering insight and opportunity for these young students and football players, Hall teaches while good is good, it’s better to shoot higher:  to be great.

Along with the nonprofit Progressive Athletes Scholarship program, Team Florida is supported by sponsors, individual contributions and fundraisers,

And he still gets calls from the pros looking for a quarterback.

Everyday Hero host Bill Murphy asked Hall if he had any thoughts of putting the uniform back on?

”Umm. Probably not,” Hall said.  “I’ve taken the next journey in my life.”
