The 6th annual Florida Blueberry Festival has taken over downtown Brooksville.

The event is meant to shine a light on Florida’s blueberry industry, along with giving people a ‘berry’ good time.
This year they brought back the 1,000-foot slip n slide, which was a huge hit last year. There will also be 250 vendors, art shows, and much more for people to check out.
The festival has also been held in downtown Brooksville, but that could change in a few years because the festival is about to enter a leasing agreement to take over part of the old Quarry Golf Course.
“This will give us the opportunity to grow. We will still be located in the city proper, so that’s not an issue, but we’ll also be able to run ferries between the fairgrounds, the Quarry property—which we haven’t named yet, and will go out to the citizens for a vote—then up to the city of Brooksville itself where there will be a lot of main street programs going on and then up to the Hilltop. The whole idea is not to disenfranchise our community. We want our community to come together,” said President Michael Heard.
The festival runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Kids under 12 are free, teens are $5, and adults are $10.
Blueberry farmers said it has been a good harvest so far this season, even though Florida has seen a cooler winter and warmer spring than last season.
