Lamar Morris, 29, has been charged with false imprisonment and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened on May 12 in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Dixie Avenue.

Officials said the victim Tyuis Evans, 19, was tied up around his hands and neck with a dog chain because Morris wanted “his stuff.”

Morris hit Evans with the chain and threatened to kill him, according to the report.

The incident occurred inside a nearby shed. Another person who was there, watched Evans while Morris went to look for his stuff.

Officials said the second individual struck Evans with a machete when he tried to escape. According to the report, Evans was not injured and was able to run to a nearby home and call 911.

When officers arrived, Morris was still at the scene. He was arrested and booked into the Sarasota County jail.

Officials said additional charges are pending for the other person who assisted Morris.
