It’s a gorgeous weekend to hit the beach. So why not go to the number one ranked beach in the United States right here in the Tampa Bay Area.

Siesta Beach was voted the best in the country.
Some people are so excited they were doing flips over Siesta Beach being ranked number one. Others were taking the take of the beach quite literally taking a siesta.
The news drew beach goers from around the country. “We’re from Manhattan so we came down yesterday and we saw in the paper Siesta Beach has been voted number one so we have to go there,” said beach goer, Timon Perry.
The white sand is perfect for sand castles and the biggest draw is the clear gulf water. We asked 5-year-old Nalia Ungerat her favorite part, “Riding the waves,” said Nalia
If you can’t sit still beach volleyball players say it’s the place to be. “It’s nice because with beach volleyball the sand usually gets hot at different beaches because it’s darker sand, the sand is white here so it doesn’t get hot, it’s a perk,” said volleyball coach, Annie Howard.
Renovations were recently finished on the concession area and parking lot. So if you want to grab a bite to eat or a drink it’s only steps from the beach.
A favorite is the frozen drinks that you can get in a sand bucket. “I’m impressed, it’s more than what I expected,” said beach goer, Deandre Oliver.
With the long weekend there’s plenty of time to enjoy this gem in our own backyard.
