May was warm and mostly dry over our area. The official weather station at Tampa International Airport was much warmer than normal, and rainfall was slightly below.

While there were four days in the middle of the month with record high temperatures which spiked the monthly average up, most of the month otherwise was closer to normal. Although Tampa was much warmer, other weather stations were closer to normal for May. Downtown St. Petersburg, for example, was only 0.3 degrees above normal.

Looking ahead to June, our average high temperature starts at 89 at the beginning of the month and hits 90 by the end of the month.  Average low is 73 on June 1 and 76 by the end of the month.  The rainy season kicks in with the 30 year average rainfall up to 6.68 inches.
