Brookville Police arrested a man on July 25 in connection with a road rage incident that involved the suspect threatening two people in another car with a samurai sword.

  • Daniel Franklin Seymour, 43, facing 3 charges
  • Incident occurred on N. Broad Street and Croom Road
  • Couple said Seymour threatened to kill them

Officials said the incident occurred on N. Broad Street near Croom Road. The victims, Adrian and Julian Rivera, told investigators they were driving south on Broad Street when the suspect, Daniel Franklin Seymour, 43, who was driving in front of them, began "brake checking" them -- using obscene hand gestures while slowing down and speeding up.

The Riveras said Seymour continued the behavior until the road widened and they were able to pass him. But as they passed, Seymour sped up and struck their car's right rear fender with his car's left front fender.

As the victims tried to pull over, Seymour then deliberately rear-ended them. When both cars were finally pulled over, and the Riveras got out of their car, Seymour reportedly got out of his car and approached them "in an aggressive manner."

When one of the victims warned him to back off, Seymour then went back to his car, retrieved what investigators described as a 25 inch-long samurai sword from his back seat, and declared he was going to kill them both.

Officers arrested Seymour and transported him to the Hernando County Jail. He's since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving/aggressive driving, and he's being held on a $24,500 bond.
