Administrators across Hillsborough County on Friday helped fellow workers at a school destroyed by a massive fire bounce back and get back to class.

Lee Elementary School, a magnet school off Columbus Drive in Tampa, caught fire earlier this week.

On Friday, teachers from Lee Elementary began decorating new classrooms at Lockhart Elementary, where Lee students and staff will have classes for the rest of the year.

Volunteers from other schools came to help teachers set up their new rooms.

"When I first came in, it was overwhelming," Lee Elementary teacher Roxanne Williams said.

The community also pitched in by donating thousands of dollars in school supplies.

"I'm excited to be part of it all and show support and do what I can," volunteer Chelsea Kingsley said.

"Right now, we've stopped the generic donations because we've been so overwhelmed. We're asking people to hold on for a minute, because there are going to be specific needs," said Melissa Erickson with the Alliance for Public Schools Foundation.

Meanwhile, teachers at Lee are trying to figure out how best to talk to students about what happened.

"I feel like they're going to have so many questions," Williams said. "We're all going to be crying and comforting one another. I think Monday is going to be a big day of having conversations and understanding.

"We're still a family, and we're going to get through this," she said.

Students go back to class Monday. Although they'll have to get adjusted to a new location, the children will have their same teachers.

Counselors will be on hand to talk with students and staff Monday as well.
