A 99 year-old WWII vet and his son are traveling across the country and the world.

  • WWII vet and son travel across the country, world
  • People excited to meet the WWII vet Sidney Walton
  • Father, son want to spend as much time together as possible

The duo is calling their year-long trip their "No Regrets Tour."

Sidney Walton and his son Paul Walton sold their home so they could travel the world for the year.

Paul said he wants to spend as much time as he can with his hero--his dad.

Sidney isn't only Paul's hero, he's treated like a hero everywhere he goes.

As they travel the world with Paul's girlfriend, Amy, the response is overwhelming. People want to meet WWII vets before they are all gone.

“And for his dad to have that opportunity to change people’s lives whether he knows it or not, is something that inspires me every day,” Amy said.

Pilots have even gotten choked up when they find out he's on board.

"We get to enjoy our freedom. Thank you for everything you do. From the bottom of my heart, thank you," said one pilot.

Sidney has also gotten to meet President Obama, President Trump, Governor Rick Scott, the Dalai Lama, and Steven Spielberg over the years.

The biggest inspiration though, is how the father and son have fun everywhere they go.

They even made a stop in Tampa to visit Bush Gardens.

“I’m doing it because every time we meet someone and they come up to my father and they say if my dad were still alive I would love to be doing what you are doing," he said. "Well you know what, I listen to those people and I'm doing exactly what they would be doing if their father were still around.”

Sidney Walton feels the same way about his son.

"I wouldn’t want to hang out with anyone else," he said.

The pair will be in Daytona today to attend the Daytona 500. They said they'll be at PF Chang's in Daytona from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for people to meet Sidney.
