The Space Coast Office of Tourism says the county sees an average of nearly 3 million visitors a year, many traveling out of the country on cruises.

While the agency is not seeing a huge impact right now, officials say they want to be prepared.

"Guest safety is a top priority for us, and a big part of that is communication," said Eric Garvey, assistant director. "So we are prepared and ready to share that information with the public.”

Space Coast Tourism says if more cases were to come to light in Brevard County it would be prepared to handle it. It would begin with more education for the general public and advising cruise lines in Port Canaveral, handing out bug spray for their travelers.
