An Orlando version of the trendy New York restaurant Le Cirque won't happen after all.

  • Plans for Circo in Orlando have been scrapped
  • Parent company is in bankruptcy
  • Developer planning new restaurant for the property

Circo was planned for a 2018 opening at Hollywood Plaza on International Drive, at the top of a parking garage developed by Mango's Tropical Cafe developer Joshua Wallack.

But Le Cirque recently told The New York Times it was closing. The company had filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy with almost half a million dollars in debt.

Circo Orlando was going to be a high-end Italian restaurant at the top of the 14-story parking garage at the corner of International Drive and Sand Lake Road.

Wallack is now working on a new deal for the property.

“It’s the best restaurant site in the US,” said Wallack in a statement to News 13. “Major players have been circling it and we just have to pick the right concept. It will still be fine dining with a chic lounge to perfectly pair with Mango’s.”
