OneWeb Satellites marked the beginning of construction of its $85 million factory in the Kennedy Space Center Exploration Park on Thursday.

The first order of 900 communications satellites is for Airbus, the world's second-largest space company.

The company expects to manufacture several of them a week.

Once in orbit, the constellation will provide internet service for billions globally.

An estimated 250 Space Coast jobs will be created, with thousands of indirect jobs across the country.

The first satellites are expected to launch from the Space Coast in 2018.
