Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is the fifth installment of the franchise starring actor Johnny Depp and is set to open nationwide May 26. The previous movies in the series have grossed billions worldwide.

But according to the newspaper, Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Bob Iger told ABC employees on Monday that hackers have stolen one of the company's movies and are threatening to release it in pieces unless a ransom is paid in online crypto-currency Bitcoin.

Iger did not identify the movie, and the company did not comment, the Times reported.

An unidentified source told the Times that Disney is working with federal authorities to investigate the hacking.

A few weeks ago, hackers stole the new season of "Orange is the New Black" and leaked episodes after Netflix didn't meet their demands.
