SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment may be planning a new ride for one of its parks.

  • SeaWorld files trademark for 'Ray Rush'
  • Trademark is for 'entertainment in nature of amusement park ride'
  • Filed after SeaWorld reported attendance, revenue losses

The Orlando-based theme park recently filed a trademark that hints at a new water ride.

The trademark for “Ray Rush” says it is for the use of “amusement park and theme parks services; entertainment in the nature of an amusement park ride.”

At this point, it's unclear what type of attraction Ray Rush will be. SeaWorld hasn't made any official announcements.

Also, it's unknown which park SeaWorld plans to put the attraction.

Ray Rush could be developed for one of the Orlando parks, although SeaWorld is already scheduled to get a new water ride in 2018, Infinity Falls. Or, SeaWorld could have Ray Rush in mind for one of its parks in California or Texas.

The trademark was filed a day after SeaWorld reported a decline in revenue and attendance during an earnings call.

Attendance at SeaWorld parks fell 3.8 percent in the second quarter of this year. The company said it had experienced sharp attendance drops at parks in San Diego and Orlando, blaming local competition and a reduction in national advertising campaigns.
