Oct. 1 marks 35 years since the opening of Epcot at Walt Disney World, and Disney is planning a few special offerings for the anniversary.

  • Epcot's 35th anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 1
  • Day-long celebration features events, merchandise

A special celebration will happen at the Fountain View stage at 10:01 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 1. The event will also feature the musical groups Mariachi Cobre and Voices of Liberty.

Epcot guests will be able to pick up a commemorative guide map and times guide at the park's main entrance, International Gateway and Guest Relations.

There will be a pop-up shop for 35th anniversary merchandise, including a special "I Was There" collection of shirts, bags, pins and other items.

The day ends with a special edition of the "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" fireworks show at 9 p.m.

Epcot will already be pretty busy because of the ongoing International Food and Wine Festival, so be prepared to get there early.

More details on special merchandise is available on the Disney Parks Blog.
