It’s “hasta la vista, baby” for one Universal Orlando attraction.

  • Terminator 2: 3-D to close Oct. 8
  • New live-action experience will take its place
  • The new attraction will be based on Universal franchise

Terminator 2: 3-D will permanently close Oct. 8, the park announced Thursday.

The ride, which is located in Universal Studios Florida, will be replaced by an “all-new live-action experience” set to open in 2019.

Although Universal hasn’t said what the replacement will be, it did offer a hint. The new attraction will be based on a “high-energy Universal franchise.”

Terminator 2: 3-D opened at Universal Orlando in 1996 and is one of the oldest attractions at the park.

The announcement comes days after the closure of Dragon Challenge in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade. A new Harry Potter-themed coaster is set to take its place.
