AAA is forecasting that this Thanksgiving will have the highest travel volume in a dozen years.

It is projecting that nearly 51 million Americans will travel this week.

In Florida alone, AAA is projecting that there will be 2.6 million people who will travel 50 miles or more, a 3.2 percent increase from last year.

Out of those travelers, 2.3 million will take a road trip and 190,720 Floridians are forecasted to take a flight.

And if you need to fuel up before heading out, gas prices are likely to be the highest since 2014. Last year pump prices averaged $2.10.

Meanwhile at Tampa International Airport, crowds began building by Wednesday morning. Thousands will be moving through the airport for this holiday.

And that means millions more will be traveling through the nation's airports. Flyers are taking advantage of the cheapest Thanksgiving fares since 2013.

Ticketing and security lines will be longer so airport officials are advising travelers to get the the airport at least two hours before their flights.
