A Volusia County couple have been identified as suspects in a hit and run on Oct. 31 in Winter Haven, Florida.

David Ellis Jr, 41, of Oak Hill, who was the driver of the U-Haul, is wanted for leaving the scene of a crash involving serious injury, driving with a revoked license and hauling tires without a permit.

Erica Grasso, 30, of Oak Hill, who was a passenger in the U-Haul, was arrested in Volusia County and was extradited to Polk County on Nov. 9. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The two-vehicle accident happened at the intersection of Havendale Boulevard and 26th Street NW.

The U-Haul truck heading eastbound on Havendale Boulevard allegedly struck a Nissan sedan heading westbound. 

According to Polk County authorities, a man and woman were seen fleeing from the U-Haul. The driver of the Nissan was trapped in her car and suffered from serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

During the crash investigation, illegal narcotics were also found inside the U-Haul, along with 90 used tired.

Ellis has previously spent two years in prison for a felony DWLSR (driving while license suspended or revoked).
