Lake County homicide investigators are trying to determine how a body found in the trunk of a smoldering vehicle got there.

Late Monday night, deputies met up with a man in the North Bradshaw Road area of Clermont who was trying to flag down vehicles in the middle of the road.

The man told them he and his friend had been carjacked and his friend was in the trunk of their vehicle, which had been set on fire, the Sheriff's Office said.

The man who was flagging vehicles for help also had been shot.

Deputies soon found a smoldering vehicle with a body in the trunk.

The man's gunshot wound was not life-threatening, deputies said.

Deputies have made no arrests in this case. They have not released the names of the man killed or the man injured.
