One Daytona in Daytona Beach is buzzing with business, and more are set to open just this week.

  • 6 businesses already open at One Daytona
  • Annual impact of over $100,000,000, says official
  • 20 businesses expected to fill up project

Todd Blanchard’s Bass Pro Shop has only been open 10 months in One Daytona.

“We’ve actually exceeded expectations all year long,” said Blanchard, general manager.

Now restaurants and hotels are sprouting up around his store and also helping his business.

So far six businesses are already running, and this week the Fairfield Inn and Suites, along with Built Burgers, are opening up.

“You never really know what to expect until it actually happens, but it's been fantastic, the foot traffic that's been generated just from this area,” Blanchard said.

“We’re going to see 1,000 jobs when it's fully opened with an annual impact of over $100 million, so really significant uptick for the community,” said Craig Neeb, chief development and digital officer.

Craig Neeb said that is the biggest push to get this place up and running. He said 20 businesses or so are expected to fill up of this projected $200 million plus project within a year from now.

One Daytona will have all sorts of places where people can shop, instead of traveling to neighboring cities.

They’ll also be breaking ground on places for people to live within 30 days.

“What that will do is draw more tourists to this community and part of that with the hotel rooms here, retail here that will draw increase taxes as well in the community,” Neeb said.

Blanchard said from entertainment to shopping, he's looking forward to continued growth.

“I can't imagine going anywhere else,” Blanchard said.

Right now, One Daytona is hosting special holiday live entertainment to attract visitors.

The executive director said by the time Speedweeks happens for the Daytona 500, race fans will see how the area has transformed. It's expected to be completed by Dec. 2018.
