  • Mutcherson is also accused of pistol-whipping one of the residents
  • Affidavit: Mutcherson, one of the residents knew each other

Around 2 a.m. on Monday, a man broke into a house on 75 Silver Lane and armed with a gun, took an Xbox, a Wii, a Playstation 3 and video games, according to deputies, who added that the man pistol-whipped one of the resident's, a 68-year-old man, in the head. He sustained a minor injury.

The residents called 911 and gave a detailed description of the man and his car. As a detective was driving towards the house, he passed a vehicle, with a broken headlight, that matched the description that was given.

While conducting a traffic stop, the detective discovered that the driver, Kareem Jamel Mutcherson, matched the description of the man who robbed the house, and an Xbox was found in the backseat, authorities stated.

Mutcherson said that his "side girlfriend" gave him the Xbox for his birthday, even though he knew her for about three to four days, stated an arrest affidavit.

Two people from the house were taken to Mutcherson and they identified him as the man who robbed them, the affidavit stated.

The affidavit revealed that Mutcherson knew one of the female residents and that both he and the resident had sexual relations together earlier in the evening.

Mutcherson was charged with robbery-home invasion with a firearm, aggravated battery on a person who is 65 years old or older, possession of marijuana that is less than 20 grams and driving while having a license suspended or revoked.

The 3-year-old girl was given to family members who were at the traffic stop, according to the sheriff's office.
