There's no water or power the Osceola Heritage Park Inn along U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee, but security is being beefed up at the condotel after the condo association hired a private security guard to patrol the area.

The private security guard on site said that rooms have been broke into and things have been stolen.

"There are units that are open and those are the ones that I go check to make sure that there isn't anybody in there squatting in there as that’s not supposed to be," said Olguita Rosado, one of the security guards.

The Heritage Park Inn has been without running water for more than a month and without electricity for about a week because of an ongoing legal battle between unit owners and the condo association.

Most families have left, but there are about 15 families still living at the condotel.

"We're going through hell," John Torres said.

Torres' family sleeps with their door open because of the lack of air-conditioning. He also said his two children have a bunch of mosquito bites that have since become infected.

"I am worried about my kids," he said. "We have to find ways to get them food to eat and everything and it's horrible.

Torres isn't the only one going through a difficult time.

Loumercy Rivera has three children, one with a mental disability, and a dog. She said she recently lost her job and can’t find an affordable place to live.

"Bad, sad ... I don't know," she said with tears in her eyes. "(I) cry every day."

The attorney for the condo association said they are going to try and collect rent from tenants ant try to use those funds to pay the utilities.
