Richard J. Bolender, 79, was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center after the June 7 crash. He died Tuesday, troopers said.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report, Bolender was driving a golf cart that morning westbound on Talley Ridge Drive, east of Weaton Court, in a golf cart lane.
To pass a pedestrian in the golf cart lane, he swerved out into the travel lane and into the path of a 2005 Buick LeSabre, troopers said.
The Buick struck the golf cart from behind, pushing it into the curb. The cart overturned, and Bolender was ejected.
The 43-year-old driver of the Buick and a 2-year-old girl in the car were unhurt.
