Florida is among several states that have continued to add construction jobs, according to the Associated General Contractors of America.

  • Florida added 32,000 construction jobs since 2016
  • AGCA report shows demand for construction

The state added 32,000 construction jobs, the report shows. That’s a 6.9 percent increase from 2016.

California added the most construction jobs in the past year at 46,000, a 6 percent increase.

According to data from AGCA, Florida also added 5,100 construction jobs between the months of May and June.

Across the country, construction employment increased in 41 states but decreased in 21 states during the 12-month period.

Officials with AGCA said that in places were fewer workers were added, there may be a shortage of qualified job seekers and not a slowdown in construction demand.

“Contractors in most of the country say they have plenty of projects booked and would like to hire more workers if they could find them,” said Ken Simonson, chief economist for AGCA.
