There will be an extra Lake County Sheriff's deputy at the Leesburg High school football game Thursday because fans of both teams will be sitting in the same area.

  • Fans of school football teams will have to sit together for Thursday's game
  • Extra sheriff's deputy will be on hand during game

School officials say a set of bleachers had to be condemned.

"We've been working on it and trying to get this problem solved the whole summer," said Lake County School Board member Kristi Burns.

Burns says the bleachers had rusted.

The condemned bleachers could hold about 500 people in the visitors section. Officials say those visitors will now have to sit with the home team during games, like the game on Thursday against Eustis.

"We have signs that will be there and one deputy every game to monitor the crowd, because they will be butting up to Leesburg fans," said principal Mike Randolph.

Officials say the school board needs to vote before installing new bleachers, but say they do have the money for them. There is no date set for the vote.
